The Academy is committed to building the strongest mentor network possible. If you share our commitment to
improving the lives of other correctional health professionals, we encourage you to become a mentor. This is your opportunity to offer the positive support that you received--or
would like to have received--during your career. Your experience and knowledge will be invaluable to the many professionals struggling to find their place. The Mentoring Relationship
The mentoring relationship is viewed primarily as an educational experience. Mentors may offer career guidance, resume writing and interviewing tips, and, above all, the opportunity to start developing a professional network. Ultimately, the mentoring experience is designed to help Academy members gain a better understanding of the
dynamics of the correctional health care field.
It’s Easier Than You Think!
Things that may seem easy or straightforward to you are often mysterious to people who are new to corrections or who have been recently promoted or given new
responsibilities. That’s why it may be easier than you think to make a
difference in the course of someone’s career.
Are You Mentor Material?
Are you an an energetic, enthusiastic, experienced professional who
believes that correctional health care is an exciting and rewarding
career? Are you committed to advancing the quality of care in
correctional facilities nationwide? If so, the Academy’s Mentor
Committee would love to hear from you.
If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please complete a biographical
information form (online
or download a .pdf ),
which will ask about your professional experience and areas of special
interest. Your information will be added to a database of mentors
accessible from this Web site to facilitate matching
participants on both sides of the relationship.
